Video
The centerpiece of our video offerings is the Youtube Channel UNL Astronomy. All of our video offerings will be presented as the minimized embedded YouTube video. The majority (all of the modestly-sized ones) will also be available as mp4 (a few will be older mov) files for download. Very large files (> 400 Mb) will only be available upon request through e-mail and would be posted to a download box as downloads of these files have been very slow and infrequent.
There are presently 3 distinct playlists within this YouTube channel.
- The AU Demonstration Videos YouTube playlist is a series of short demonstrations (~3 minutes) commonly performed in introductory astronomy classes. The individual videos in the playlist are available on the local AU Demonstration Videos page.
- The UNL Guest Lectures YouTube Playlist consists of presentations by visitors to the UNL campus over the past ~6 years. These videos are a mixture of astronomy, education, and technology talks. The individual videos in the playlist are available on the local Guest Speakers at UNL page.
- The UATP Presentations YouTube Playlist consists of presentations by distinguished astronomers from the July, 2011 conference Using Astronomy to Teach Physics held at UNL. The individual videos in the playlist are available on the local UATP Presentations page.
These videos have a wide assortment of video and sound quality. Most are quite good -- a few are not. Almost all of this work has been done by undergraduate students.
A few Captivate screen capture videos (in flash) of teaching with simulations are also available. The individual videos in the playlist are available on the Simulation Videos page.
