Smartphone Pedagogy Videos

As part of a grant from the American Astronomical Society grant, a series of videos covering simulation use on smartphones has been developed. The 4-part Smartphones in the Astronomy Classroom series includes:
- Video 1: Why Smartphones? — explores the growing abundance of smartphones and the special affinity that college-aged students have for them.
- Video 2: Design Framework — details the characeristics of smartphone simulations, how they differ from simulations targeted at desktop simulations, and shows some example simulations on different devices.
- Video 3: First Practices — discusses our implementation in the classroom and the specific manners in which we direct students.
- Video 4: Smartphone Challenges — the series closes by describing some of the challenges involved in implementating students smartphones and how they can be combatted.
The entire series is available on YouTube on the following playlist on the UNL Astronomy channel.
In Other Formats
The videos are also available below as iSpring HTML5 presentations and .mp4 videos. Presentations in iSpring allow you to navigate based upon invidual slide icons and read a print version of the narrations. The .mp4 videos may be downloaded and saved locally.
