This page provides information on obtaining housing and meals while visiting Lincoln, Nebraska for the UATP workshop. It is assumed that users of this form have already registered for the UATP conference on the AAPT Web site. If you have not, please go back and register here.
You should reserve housing for 3 nights: Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday July 27-29, 2011. The conference officially begins on Wednesday, July 27, at 6 pm with a dinner on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, campus and ends on Saturday, July 30, at noon.
Attendees may choose to stay at the Embassy Suites of Lincoln located one block south of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Campus. Please book you reservation before July 6 to receive the discounted UATP rate of $119 per night. The hotel is about 5 blocks walking distance from UNL's Jorgensen Hall where the majority of workshop activities will take place.
A complimentary cooked-to-order breakfast is included with your hotel rate at the Embassy Suites. We encourage UATP participants to eat lunch on the UNL campus at the Selleck Hall Cafetaria. You may pay at the door (~$7) and we have reserved the President's Room to eat as a group. It is very high quality fare for cafeteria food and conveniently located near Jorgensen Hall where there are really no other nearby choices for lunch. Dinner is on your own to allow for networking opportunities with the other participants. We will be providing maps of downtown Lincoln with marked locations of highly recommended restaurants near the Embassy Suites.
Attendees may choose to stay at the Robert E. Knoll Residential Center (note that the web site is complete with virtual tours) on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Campus. The residence hall is about 3 blocks walking distance from UNL's Jorgensen Hall where the majority of workshop activities will take place. You will reserve your lodging through the UNL Summer Housing Form. You are encouraged to make your reservation as soon as possible as rooms (especially single rooms) do fill up.
Visitors staying in the residence hall have the option to purchase a meal plan. Your combined daily rate for meals and lodging will be approximately $48/day. This will provide 3 meals per day on Thursday and Friday as well as breakfast on Saturday at the Selleck Hall Cafetaria. However, it is probably safer to purchase meals at Selleck Hall as needed. Make sure that on the summer housing form you: 1) select Guest will pay for all costs upon check-in with cash or check, 2) provide Lindsay Augustyn's contact information (see below) in the UNL Host Department fields, and 3) request a meal exemption for Wednesday dinner in the Additional Information field to attend the UATP opening reception if you are buying the meal package.
